Big John

What Kids Love

Kids come nose-to-nose with Big John, the World’s Largest Triceratops fossil. They crawl underneath him, peek through clear bubbles for an up-close view, rebuild a triceratops on a giant wall puzzle, and draw their own dinosaur before scanning it to watch it hatch on screen. Kids can even team up to see how many it takes to match the weight of Big John’s massive 771-pound skull. A contained toddler zone with dinosaur toys, plushies, and sensory panels lets the youngest explorers join the adventure.

What Kids Learn

Big John brings the Cretaceous period to life. Children explore fossils, the geologic timeline, and the science of fossilization while building collaboration, curiosity, and scientific thinking. By connecting real discovery with playful interaction, kids see themselves as explorers uncovering Earth’s incredible past.

What to Expect

Big John is spacious and awe-inspiring, with a mix of large-scale visuals and smaller interactive stations. Families can explore together, and a dedicated toddler zone provides a safe, contained area for younger children. Activities range from energetic group challenges to quiet drawing and puzzle play, allowing every child to engage in a way that feels right for them. Once the dinosaur puzzle is completed, the pieces “jump” off the wall to reset, causing brief loud noises as the pieces fall back to the ground.
