The Glazer Children’s Museum believes that every child should have an equal opportunity to become lifelong learners and leaders. Within the Hillsborough County Public School System, 15% of families are living below the poverty line. The Museum’s Social Responsibility Initiative supports these children and families by providing access to programming and educational experiences. The Museum relies on generous contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations to make this a reality.
Through the Social Responsibility Initiative, GCM has partnered with the Hillsborough County Public School System and Title One Schools to expand the field trip experience for students. This unique and customized programming incorporates Florida State Standards and, through our SMALLab and Think Studio experiences, focuses on improved learning and access for students. The Museum also provides camp scholarships for children based on financial need.
Our vision is to create a community where everyone is included, enabled and empowered to dream and excel by creating a bright future fueled by imagination because we have invested early.
Over the last 5 years, our Title One School student attendance has increased an average of 16% percent per year. This school year, over 4,300 Title One School students will have accessed our field trip experiences for Free, but there are still many more students to serve!
A Vision for the Future
As the Social Responsibility Initiative grows, so will the list of programs it supports! GCM wants to partner with even more community organizations, expand opportunities for under-represented groups to explore STEM concepts, pioneer computer literacy programs, develop new green initiatives, introduce more scholarships, and beyond. Your support helps us raise the Imagination Generation!
