DIY Up-Cycled Pet Toys

Team GCM member, Maggie, and her newly adopted pup, Banks, show you how to make up-cycled pet toys out of old t-shirts!

Materials: Old t-shirts Scissors or rotary cutter Binder clip or chip clip Cutting mat or cardboard piece Supervision of a grownup!

Instructions:

  1. How to prepare the T-Shirt:
    • Fold the T-shirt in half and smooth out any bumps or ridges, make sure the sleeves and edges are lined up.
    • Cut off the bottom hem of the shirt
    • Cut the shirt into 2-inch strips (don’t have to be perfect) all the way up to the part where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt… the armpit 🙂
    • Cut your loops so they turn into strings
  2. Knot the strings together at one end & clip to the mat or cardboard
  3. Braid from the knot all the way until the end of the strings
  4. Tie a knot at the end of the braid
  5. Curve your braided rope in half and tie knots (like the ones you use when you tie your shoes) all the way until you have no more rope to tie!

You’ve got a dog toy!
