Team GCM member Emily explains what symmetry is and teaches us how to make a symmetry monster! Follow along to practice your symmetry skills and make a symmetry monster! Then go on a symmetry scavenger hunt to find symmetrical objects in your surroundings!
Materials:
- Paper
- Paint
- Markers
- Googly eyes
- Other craft supplies
Directions:
- Fold your piece of paper in half vertically. This will create our line of symmetry.
- Open your paper up and lay it on a table. Drop paint on only one side of the line of symmetry. Then, fold your paper in half again and smush the paint around.
- Open your paper back up and allow your painting to dry. Can you find any lines of symmetry?
- When your painting is dry, take your marker, googly eyes, any other craft supplies, and your imagination and turn your painting into a monster!
