Team GCM Member, Caroline is here to teach you how to make your very own dinosaur fossils at home! And for the younger kiddos, we have a fun Connect-the-Dots dino activity sheet!
Items Needed:
½ Cup Soil
1 Cup Flour
¾ Cup water
Parchment Paper
Kitchen Utensils
Paintbrush or makeup brush
Dinosaur toys
Instructions:
- Mix ingredients together in a larger bowl until combined. The mixture should have a sticky consistency.
- Collect a ball of dough similar to the size of a golf ball and flatten the mixture out in your hand.
- Press dinosaur toy into the mixture. Cover toy completely with the mixture.
- Set newly formed fossil on a piece of parchment paper.
- Repeat steps 2-4 until all of the mixture has been used.
- Either place fossils in a sunny spot and wait until they have a hard shell, or bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
- Break apart fossils with a kitchen utensil and dust of excess mixture with a brush just like a paleontologist would do!
