Build a Compost Bin & Activity Sheet

Team GCM member, Caroline, shows you how to make a super simple compost bin! Then test your composting knowledge by using our activity sheet that asks you to sort out what should be composted and what should be recycled.

Did you know that composting is really good for the planet? When food scraps mix with trash in landfills it makes toxic waste called methane and leachate, so instead of sending your food scraps to landfills make a compost bin! Learn more about the environmental benefits of composting in this video, Composting for Kids.

Have you ever had compost stew? Well… humans can’t eat it, but the earth can! Watch and enjoy this fun storytime of Compost Stew by Mary Mchenna for an alphabet story of all the things you can put in your compost! This video is done by the Oxbow Farm & Conversation Center and after their reading, they show you some items from around their farm that they put in their compost stew!

Want to learn more about composting? This video from SciShow Kids teaches kiddos about composting in the most colorful, fun way with illustrations and photographs! Learn more about composting in their video, Make the Most of Compost!
